Apex

The innermost point of a corner where the car is closest to the inside edge of the track. The apex is the pivot of your line — hit it late and you can apply throttle earlier down the following straight, which is almost always faster than hitting a geometric apex. Most sim racing coaches teach "late apex" as the default because it prioritizes exit speed over cornering speed.
